Dubai won the right to host Expo 2020
On November 2nd, 2011 Dubai entered the bid for Expo 2020
On February 2013, the delegation from the Bureau International des Expositions visited Dubai to examine the Emirate’s readiness for the largest exposition,
They were impressed by the infrastructure, and the level of national support.
And on November 27, 2013, they announced that, among four other cities, Dubai got 116 Vote out of 163 and is the winner
The Burj Khalifa came to life with fireworks and residents rejoiced as the winner was announced.
The President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, congratulated His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on the win and said: “Our joy in the UAE was doubled by the win as it coincides with the celebrations of the 42nd National Day.”
He said: the country possesses all it takes to successfully organize a unique event that will add a new and outstanding imprint on the Expo series of events,
Shaikh Mohammed, in a statement, said: We renew our promise to astonish the world in 2020. Dubai will bring to life our vision: Connecting Minds, Creating the Future.”
He went on to congratulate the nation, the President and all people of the U.A.E.

Every five years and for a period of six months, World Expos attract millions of visitors who explore and discover pavilions, exhibitions and cultural events staged by hundreds of participants including nations, international organizations and businesses.
